Is It Really Raw?

Yesterday, on our Facebook page, someone was asking how we can really know if something is raw. Earlier, I had received an email from someone asking if I could share the definition of ‘organic’. These are important questions! Companies can be the masters of illusion when it comes to providing quality products to the consumer. Just take a look at any store label and you’ll see ingredients you don’t recognize. It appears as if manufactures change the name of items when the public becomes aware of the dangers of a certain ingredient! To top it off you have the regulations defining terms such as ‘spice’, ‘raw’, or ‘organic’. Often times they give allowances in the definition causing the real meaning and purpose of the word to be lost and all at the consumers expense! This is just another reason why I love Azure Standard! I love the dedication to the customer and to creation! David Stelzer the owner states:

“We chose to call our business Azure Standard, to signify by the name what we are attempting to do. Azure is a shade of blue which has been associated with law, justice, and honesty. In raising an azure standard, we want to place an honest standard in the marketing of food. We feel that the correct way to effect a positive change is not to attack the way it is being done, but to begin to do it right.”

ch128_jpg_300x300_q85Many companies have  seen the need to devote themselves to promoting quality products that the consumer can trust! One such company that Azure carries is, Brunkow Cheese of WIsconsin.  According to their site, “One taste is all it takes” to realize just how good raw milk cheddar can be. I positively love their Tomato Basil Raw Milk Cheddar spread (item number: CH129). Aged over 100 days, with no added preservatives, artificial colors, extra salt, stabilizers or added sugar! Simply delicious RAW cheese!! The company has a commitment to “no heat involved” in the process of bringing us this tasty treasure! Cold pack cheese means that it “is live, natural cheese with no relation to pasteurized, process cheeses.” Azure offers over 20 different cheese such as raw milk cheddar, raw milk colby, Habanero Pepper Jack, Horseradish cheese spread, Mild and Sharp Cheddar (annatto colored), Montery Jack, Olive Cheddar and more!  I encourage you to treat yourself to raw milk cheddar cheese from Brunkow!

I will continue to keep my ears and eyes open for the businesses that we can trust. Where ingredients and processes to production are spoken plainly and truthfully! If you have a favorite company you would like me to learn more about feel free to email me and I’ll do my best to bring you back my research!

Until our next chat,

Mrs. Joseph Wood
